Welcome to Rio Dance Studio. My name is Mario Raiti and as both owner and dance teacher I’m passionate about making dance accessible to everyone regardless of age, experience or ability.

Rio Dance Studio opened its doors in July 1981 with dreams and aspirations held by former owners Fabian Gheri and Maureen DeLacy (hostess of the popular ABC TV show, That’s Dancin’). From humble beginnings Rio has grown to become the market leader of social ballroom classes in Australia.

Having worked closely with Maureen and Fabian for 10 years, I bought into the business in 2000. Rio continues to evolve with the introduction of new and exciting dance styles and the inclusion of group classes especially designed for kids and seniors.

Over the years Rio Dance Studio has set a high benchmark in the dance industry having won an award from DanceSport Victoria and multiple awards from the Australian Dancing Society for “Outstanding Service”. Rio Dance Studio is proudly the only studio in Australia to hold these awards, a testament to our dedication in providing the best possible service and learning environment for our students….some of whom have stuck with us for over 20 years!

In 2021 Rio Dance Studio celebrated 40 happy years of business making us one of the longest running dance schools in Australia! In this time, we have helped thousands upon thousands of Melbournians find their confidence on the dance floor.
